التَّنْوِين comes from نَوَّنَ — meaning: to add the letter Noon (ن).

The Tanween Rule
Tanween only appears at the end of a word — never in the middle.
It adds an "n" sound that you hear but never write as ن.

Spot Your Letters in the Quran
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
"Say: He is Allah, the One" — Surah Al-Ikhlas, Verse 1
· أَحَدٌ ends with Tanween Damm → "a · ha · dun"
· The ٌ on دٌ tells you: this is an indefinite noun ending in "un"
· In Tajweed — when you stop at the end of this verse, the "n" sound is dropped
