Did You Know?
You have learned Fatha (mouth opens → "a")
and Kasra (jaw drops → "i").

Now meet the Damma — it rounds the lips
الضَّمَّة comes from ضَمَّ — meaning: to bring together.

It sits above the letter — shaped like a tiny و
بُ
Damma — ضَمَّة
A small و shape above the letter = short "u" sound
بُ = "bu"  ·  تُ = "tu"  ·  ثُ = "thu"
